Swingbed Program

Atoka County Medical Center Swing Bed Program is a hospital-based skilled-care program designed to help you if you are no longer in need of acute care in a hospital, but still need more rehabilitation before you return home.

Even if you have received inpatient care or surgery at another hospital, you can choose Atoka County Medical Center for swing bed care.

Stays are anticipated to be short-term and can be utilized for a variety of conditions including, but not limited to:

Extended antibiotic therapy
Heart disease
Joint replacement and other surgeries
Newly diagnosed diabetics
Respiratory diseases
Other debilitating conditions

Our swing bed program is geared toward patients on Medicare, as this is a covered benefit. However, we can accommodate people of all ages, as some insurance companies may also cover this service.

Benefits of the Atoka County Medical Center Swing Bed Program

Recovery is in a safe and secure environment, close to home.

Skilled nurses and physicians are available 24 hours a day.

Access to health care specialists, including: physical therapists, speech therapists, respiratory therapists, and dieticians.

Discharge planning services to arrange for Home Health therapies, nursing, supportive care and other services you may need when you return home.

Coordinated team services are provided to help address nutrition, pain and medical management while your strength and function improves enough to return home.

Arranging a stay

Anyone (family, parents or hospital staff) may contact Atoka County Medical Center regarding our swing bed program. Patients currently at another hospital can ask to coordinate a transfer to Atoka County Medical Center swing bed program.

Patients need a physician's referral to be eligible for our swing bed program. Patients must also have a three-night qualifying stay in a hospital setting to be Medicare eligible.
